Loveford

It all began after a weekend away at Daylesford in 2018, where we met some beautiful Scottish Highland Cows. That interaction has sparked a dream for Brian and I. Hobby Farming had always been in the family on Brian’s side and secretly a passion he wanted to pursue after rearing orphaned lambs, growing mini crops and working as a shearing rouseabout as a young man.

 

So we decided to research land locally in the Macedon ranges region. After missing out on an opportunity, we then came across what we now call our paradise, which we love sharing with our children and grandchildren. 

 

We took massive and immediate action (MAIA) and that’s where it began with the purchase of our first Heifer named Maia. However, we were scammed after a 4 hour drive, arriving only to find she was a Highland Angus Cross. But, we still wanted to give her a home.

 

From then we did our research and joined the Highland Societies enabling us to learn and grow our fold with our beautiful horned purebred "coos" and becoming registered breeders. We’ve even had the pleasure of exporting our farm bred pure Highlands to Taiwan for a petting zoo breeding program. We have discovered not only the delight that these majestic animals give us but also so many other animal lovers.

 

We’ve continued the family tradition of Brian’s father Terry, and his 75 years of Bee Keeping, and continue to harvest our own local honey, our own "natures gold".

 

In 2024, Loveford Farm introduced the new to Australia, Valais Blacknose Sheep, noting their nature to be as sweet as the Highland “Hairy Coos”. We are members of the breed up program with the Valais Blacknose Society of Australia Inc. to assist in growing the Valais breed locally.

 

Now we would like to share the beautiful nature of these herded animals with you by offering our limited by appointment Farm experiences at Loveford Farm, where a farm boy and a city girl have created their own paradise. We hope to welcome you soon.
